Buying your home
If you are buying your home with the help of a mortgage then you will be instructed by your lender to appoint a chartered surveyor to look over the property. You may decide that you wish to build a new house. This is a major undertaking and you will need a surveyor to ensure that all the building work conforms to the plans and the regulations. There are two types of surveyor, one being a Chartered Surveyor and one being a Chartered Quantity Surveyor. The latter will be the person who will be able to ensure that the work has been carried out in accordance with the plans agreed and will evaluate the worth of the work so that you can pay the builders.
